Motor Pool Check Out

State of Colorado Key Control System

The State of Colorado Key Control System is used to check out and return a motor pool vehicle.  The kiosk is located in the alley behind the State Services building at 1525 Sherman St, Denver, CO  80203, as seen in the image below:

Important: Please remember that the key fob is required to get in and out of the parking lot; should you need to exit the parking lot temporarily, be sure to keep the keys with you. Upon return of the vehicle, be sure your vehicle and/or personal belongs are outside of the gate before returning the keys; once they are checked in, you will not be able to open the motor pool gate.

Next, refer to the image on the right to familiarize yourself with the following components of the Kiosk:

  1. Kiosk and Keyboard
  2. Lockbox door
    1. This lever must be raised to unlock the key box if you are checking out a vehicle and lowered to lock the key box when you return the vehicle

 

How to Check Out a Reserved Motor Pool Vehicle

Step One

Main Screen - follow the instruction on the screen and touch to begin.

Step Two

Enter your credentials and click on “Login”.

Step Three

Select “Check Out Vehicle”.

Step Four

Your reservation(s) will appear on the screen; select your confirmation number.

Step Five

Your reservation details are broken down as shown on the following screen. Verify the information and click “Check Out” to proceed. If the information is not accurate, contact the motor pool before completing the reservation (dpa_centralmotorpool@state.co.us or 303-866-3030).

Step 6

The kiosk will take a moment to process your request.

Step Seven

The Kiosk will notify you of the key slot where your key is located.  You will have 60 seconds to remove your key; turn the key to the left to remove it

Step Eight

The Key Control will unlock, the light will turn green and then you must lift the lever to open the key box

Step Nine

The light next to your key will light up; turn the key to the left to remove it.

Step Ten

After removing the keys to the vehicle, close the door and slide the lever down

Step Eleven

The sun can damage the Kiosk screen so please remember to put the sun protector down.

You can now proceed to the Motor Pool lot to collect the vehicle.  Use the fob on the key ring to open the Motor Pool gate.  When returning the vehicle, refer to the Motor Pool Check In Instructions article as needed.
